Cultivating Impactful
Changemakers
What is Scroll2Action?
Scroll2Action is a groundbreaking program that aims to empower Year 9 and 10 students with the skills to:
- Critically navigate the digital landscape
- Engage across differences
- Drive positive change collaboratively
By merging social media literacy with civic education, students are skilled up to use digital platforms for positive change and social impact. Scroll2Action is a transformative initiative for NSW-based schools to build digital resilience, foster interfaith dialogue, and inspire student-led change
Why is Scroll2Action Needed?
Today’s youth are growing up in a digital world filled with incredible opportunities and serious risks. Research shows:
- Over 90% of teenagers are active on social media daily (eSafety Commission, 2023).
- Exposure to misinformation, online hate, and polarisation is rising sharply.
- A 2022 study by the Australian eSafety Commissioner found that more than 50% of young people had witnessed or experienced online hate or harassment.
- Over-engagement with digital media is also linked to lower emotional well-being, anxiety, and feelings of isolation.
Social media platforms are shaping worldviews without always teaching critical navigation skills. Scroll2Action responds by equipping students with the tools to think critically, engage respectfully, and act responsibly both online and offline.
Today’s youth are connected more than ever — but not always equipped to navigate the digital world responsibly, hence the need for programs like Scroll2Action
Digital Influence. Real-World Responsibility.
Why does it matter?
In an age of misinformation, digital echo chambers, and rising polarization, Scroll2Action helps students rise above the noise. We teach young people how to
- spot misinformation,
- understand the bigger picture and algorithms
- develop effective communication and digital skills
- gain skills to prioritise common ground over differences
and thereby, turn the tide as informed digital media users and effective communicators both in real life and digital platforms.
Think Global, Act Local
Who is Involved?
With pedagogical specialists from CSU and strong backing from tech companies and think tanks, the Scroll2Action program creates an ecosystem where students develop the skills needed for the cyber age. They engage alongside peers from diverse ethno-religious and cultural backgrounds in a healthy, supportive, and collaborative environment, where their voices are amplified and their ideas are nurtured into real action.
